FAQ

  • When do I need to arrive?

    All employees must arrive at the Ritz-Carlton and check in at the Camp TCI Registration Desk by 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, July 16. The adventure begins at 3:00 p.m.

    To allow time for travel, office closures will be as follows:

    • Flagstaff, Denver and Reno offices: Closed all day Wednesday
    • Scottsdale office: Closes at 11:00 a.m.
    • Tucson office: Closes at 1:00 p.m. (market closure)

    Hotel rooms will not be available until 4:00 p.m., so we anticipate most people will need to store their luggage with the hotel. Summit will conclude Friday, July 18th at noon. To-go lunch boxes will be provided.

  • How do I get to Summit?

    You are responsible for your own travel to and from Tucson.

    Driving to Summit:

    • Employees will be reimbursed for round-trip mileage from their local office to The Ritz-Carlton, Dove Mountain. Mileage will be reimbursed once submitted in Bill per the TCI Reimbursement Policy.
    • Parking fees are included in the resort fee, courtesy of TCI.
    • Once at Summit, there will be no need for a vehicle, so we encourage carpooling with colleagues.

    Flying to Summit:

    • You are responsible for coordinating and booking your own flight arrangements to and from Tucson. Please submit your expenses via Bill and refer to the TCI Reimbursement Policy for specifics on airfare, seat selection, checked bags, etc.
    • Tucson International Airport (TUS) is the closest option, approximately 50 minutes from the Ritz-Carlton. While Phoenix is also an option, we prefer that all employees fly in and out of Tucson.
    • Transportation from the airport to the Ritz-Carlton:
      • Ride-share services like Uber/Lyft are available from Tucson Airport.
    For your return home, please avoid booking return flights before 2:00 p.m. on Friday, July 18 to allow enough time for traveling from the hotel to the airport.
  • Can I extend my stay?

    The Ritz-Carlton is offering our group rate for up to 2 days before and 3 days after the official Summit dates (July 16 to 18). Additional nights are $169 per night plus a $25 resort fee and applicable taxes.

    *If you’d like to arrive early or stay after the Summit, please let Tracy know as soon as possible but no later than May 1 so we can coordinate your request with the hotel. Early arrivals are subject to manager approval and hotel availability. Rooms are not confirmed until we receive final approval from the resort. If you plan to extend your stay, we recommend holding off on booking your flight until your hotel extension is confirmed. 

    A few other things to note:

    • Any early arrival must be approved by your manager and include coordination for PTO and team coverage.
    • TCI will cover your travel expenses, including airfare. TCI Reimbursement Policy

    • You are responsible for any expenses including additional hotel nights, meals or activities outside the official Summit dates.

    • Cellular and hotspot service at the resort is limited, so we do not recommend working remotely from the hotel prior to Summit.

    Planning personal time:
    Summit programming runs from Wednesday at 2:00 PM to Friday at 1:00 PM,  any personal activities should be planned outside that timeframe. The resort offers spa services, golf and other experiences, which you can explore on the Ritz-Carlton Experience Portal. As a guest of TCI Wealth Advisors, you’ll receive a 10% discount on spa services and preferred pricing on golf. When making your reservations for either the Spa or Golf Club, be sure to mention you are with TCI Wealth Advisors to receive the discounted rates.  For pricing and tee time reservations, please email the Director of Golf, Jake Hermes, at jhermes@gcdovemtn.com.

  • Will I need to pay for anything?

    The only thing you are responsible for are additional room charges and anything outside of the scheduled activities/meals. Everyone will need to put a credit card down at the time of check-in for incidentals or damages.

  • What if my room is not ready when Summit begins?

    Check-in is at 4 p.m.. The resort will hold your bag until your room is available.

  • What should I pack?

    Attire for the retreat is business casual, i.e. what you typically wear to the office. Definitely no need for any ties or suits. Although it is toasty in Arizona, the hotel meeting rooms are generally chilly. We suggest you bring a light sweater or jacket. Be sure to check back here and your email for additional information on attire.

  • Do I need to bring anything special for my TCI Adventure?

    Once adventure assignments are finalized, we’ll send packing tips specific to your excursion. In general, plan to bring a water bottle, sunscreen, closed-toe shoes and a hat if you’re doing something outdoors. Additional water will also be provided.

  • Will meals be provided during Summit?

    Yes! From the Welcome Reception on Wednesday evening through the grab-and-go lunch on Friday, meals will be provided by TCI. This includes breakfast, lunch and dinner on Thursday, as well as select refreshments during breaks.

    Meals will be served buffet-style, with a variety of options to accommodate different dietary preferences. If you have any specific dietary restrictions or allergies, please be sure to let us know in advance so we can make appropriate arrangements.

  • Can I plan activities during personal time?

    Please remember any accommodations, activities or expenses outside the official Summit agenda are your financial responsibility.

  • What about my work?

    Your participation in Summit is considered work, as it fosters our commitment to lifelong learning. Our offices will remain closed through July 18. We’ll provide more details on timecards, but we encourage everyone to set out-of-office replies and fully unplug. Please enjoy the break from our day-to-day work and be fully present at Summit! If you must check your email or be on your phone, please only do so during the breaks. As a reminder, you cannot use the hotel or public Wi-Fi connections.

  • Will there be internet access?

    Yes, however, due to security policies, hotel and public Wi-Fi cannot be used. Cellular and hotspot service at the resort is limited, so we do not recommend working remotely from the hotel prior to Summit. If you anticipate needing access, please contact your manager or the IT team ahead of time.

  • Can my significant other or family come with me?

    All Summit events and gatherings are reserved for TCI employees only. We hope you’ll take full advantage of this special time to connect, recharge and engage with your colleagues free from outside distractions.

  • What if I need to cancel or something comes up?

    If your plans change and you’re unable to attend Summit, please notify your manager and Danielle as soon as possible. This allows us to adjust accommodations, activities and minimize costs to the firm. We understand that unexpected things happen, just keep us in the loop.
