Frequently Asked Questions
-
When do I need to arrive?
We recommend you arrive at Mountain Shadows around 11:00AM but no later than 11:30AM on the 23rd. Lunch will be available starting at 11:00AM and we will kick-off the Summit at noon! Please be finished eating your lunch and any other housekeeping items before we start at noon. The retreat will end Tuesday, July 24th by 4:00PM.
-
What should I pack?
Attire for the retreat is business casual. Altough it is toasty in Arizona, the hotel meeting rooms are chilly. We suggest you bring a light sweater or jacket. Make sure to pack a pair of socks too!
-
What about my work?
All TCI offices will be closed for the two day retreat and clients will be notified of the closure. Please enjoy the break from our day-to-day work and be fully present at the Summit! If you must check your email or be on your phone, please only do so during the breaks.
-
Can my significant other come with me?
All the events and gatherings are limited to TCI employees.
-
What if I want to make a getaway out of it?
Mountain Shadows is extending our group rate 3 days before and after our Summit! If you are interested in extending your stay, please let Tracy know by Friday, July 13th. You would be responsible for the $114 + $16 resort fee for any additional nights.
-
If I'm flying to Phoenix, how will I get to the resort from the airport?
Please use Uber/Lyft/Taxi from the airport to Mountain Shadows. The resort is 10 miles from the airport. There is no need to rent a car. Everything for the Summit will be at Mountain Shadows, except dinner on Monday night and transportation will be provided for that.
-
What if my room is not ready when the Summit begins?
If your room is not available when you arrive and check-in, the resort will hold your bag until your room is ready.
-
Will I need to pay for anything?
The only thing you are responsible for are additional room charges and anything outside of the scheduled activities. Everyone will need to put a credit card down at the time of check-in.

Bob Swift
TCI Wealth Advisors
Bob Swift founded TCI Wealth Advisors 28 years ago to provide unbiased financial guidance, based solely on the needs and expectations of each client. After several years in the industry as a Stockbroker, he set out to teach anyone that would listen about the fine print-ridden financial industry. He believed clients deserved the right to know and fully understand the acronyms and fees. Bob’s educational information and meaningful message compelled the students in his classes to ask him to manage their assets for them. And thus The Conservative Investor was founded in the Swift’s garage and now flourishes under TCI, both TCI Wealth Advisors and the TCI Foundation.
TCI...What it WAS, What it IS, What it CAN BE!

Elevating the Client Experience
As the financial services industry continues to change, the need to stand out becomes increasingly important. Branding, differentiation, and pricing are all important considerations, but in the end these things alone will not have a lasting effect on clients. It is the client experience where we have the opportunity to make an impression drives loyalty and referrals.
Emily Schwartz, Ph.D.
Speaker and Educator
Dr. Emily Schwartz is an international speaker, author, and public speaking coach dedicated to eliminating wasted time and streamlining efficient communication with The Time Diet, her more “digestible” approach to time management. In The Time Diet, everything you do is either a Meat (difficult) Vegetable (easy) or Dessert (enjoyable.) Emily teaches people to plan a balanced diet of those things each day to increase productivity while reducing stress. Emily has a unique combination of University teaching and corporate training experience and draws from her doctoral research in motivation and success attributions.
Essentials of Time Management
Traditional time management advice tells us to “do the most important thing first,” but what do we do when everything feels important? What do we do when we wear many hats and are constantly managing interruptions? In this interactive breakout session, you’ll learn how to organize your time and remove inefficiencies in your day with a more "digestible" approach to time management that stresses the importance of simplicity, focus, and most of all, balance. Learn how to use start dates, break up tasks into “food groups,” identify and eliminate Time Killers, use a Slow Day list to get ahead, quickly and efficiently assess priorities, apply laser-like focus to your work, and more.
